    You're right, there are advantages and disadvantages from the bird's point
    of view. And I didn't post here with the intention of dictating what people
    should do. I just wanted to voice my opinions and it's been good doing that,
    as there aren't so many bird owners around here. Thanks for your reply, it
    made for interesting and thought-provoking reading.
