Post: cherry wood shavings safe

I have a friend who is a wood turner. He gave me a large
bag of pure cherry wood shavings. He said there are no
chemicals or anything in it. It's so soft and curly. Does
anyone know if this type of wood is safe for australian
parakeet nesting material? Thanks carol
