Cassie, Had you taken your keets to an avian vet to figure out the upper resiratory problem? Just curious. May I recommend you test your keets for PBFD. If they are losing an occasional feather that still has blood in the quill, this could be a sign. Molting feathers do not have blood in their quills. Can you see where the flight feathers are actually cut, or are they missing altogether? PBFD can make the flight feathers fall out, without affecting the other feathers. You said in your message that your keet was extremely clipped by the breeder. PBFD also makes the birds cranky and more aggressive. The condition of the breeder's home don't sound the greatest, and it is not unheard of for there to be illness or disease in these cases. This is just a thought. I would hope for you that this isn't the problem, but it may explain a lot. If you have other birds in your house, you will want to separate the new keets from them until you confirm that they are not infected.
