Post: male aggressive behaviorPosted by Jessica Lenes on 3/31/06
I have two parakeets, one female, one male. The male is
older than the female. For the past week, the male is
aggressive towards the female, especially in the evening.
They haven't been mating; but they love flying around the
house. At certain unspecified times, the male stares at the
female with his beak open and makes a "warning" sound as if
to say, "stay away". He jumped at her a few times. He
seems to want to be left alone and have his own space.
They also sleep separated several feet from each other.
I've had them about four months; they seem to get along
fine until the male gets in his "hostile mood". Any
suggestions?
