hey there linda....the moistening the shavings may have been what i have done wrong all this time. thought you told me they needed to be kept moist but not damp way back when we were first trying to hatch eggs. guess i boo booed...anyway, my babies are doing really well but i was so very afraid of killing them that i just left them with mom and dad. yesterday i found out what you meant about why to take them...mom plicked feathers off of 1 baby because it wouldn't get out of the box. we took it out and it isn't hurt...just a little naked but i'm sure tramatized. they are only 4 1/2 weeks old. isn't this too soon for her to chase them out? is she trying to lay eggs again? dad is still caring for babies but mom just sits in nb or hangs around at the top of cage away from babies. they are very gentle and sweet. i very much want to learn about feeding. have you heard of spoon method? if so, how much better or worse is it compared to syringe? sometimes the stuff comes out of the syringe so fast i was really afraid i'd choke them to death. i am determined to learn how to do this.....hope nobody suffers for it. i'll remember from now on not to wet nest, just mom and dad. they like it better that way anyway, thanks a bunch, jill
