    That's too bad about the egg binding. I'm sorry for your loss.
    One way to help prevent that ever happening again, should you
    have any females, is to make sure they have plenty of calcium in
    their diet, including a cuttle bone available at all times.
    Males or females can use the calcium but it's especially critical
    for the females. Low calcium is what causes the eggs to be too
    soft for them to pass. You might try leaving the TV or radio on
    for him for company when you are gone. But if you do get one,
    even if it's from a breeder, quarantine is always the best way to
    go. Good luck with whatever you decide.
