    Greenlady is correct. Just FYI, the reason for grit, or not,
    is whether a bird hulls it's seeds prior to eating. Cockatiels
    (hookbills) do, therefore they not only don't need it, it can
    be dangerous as it can build up and cause impaction in their
    crop or futher along the digestive tract. Birds who don't hull
    first, therefore need it for digestion are the "softbills" like
    Doves, Canaries, Finches, etc. Also don't give him sandpaper
    covers for perches or cage liners. Not only is that very bad
    for feet, the sand from them can be pecked off and ingested.
