Post: Plucking Goffin...Help!
Posted by Worried on 12/06/06
I wanted to get some tips to help my Goffin too. She is 2 years old (I have had her since she was about 8 weeks old) and has started plucking under her wing feathers. This started over the last 4 weeks. I have done everything that I can think of...or everything that I have read in books/magazines and she is still doing it. She has lots of toys and I rotate them frequently. I have recently added toys that are advertised as "great for pluckers," but they don't seem to be of much help. I am showering her more frequently, b/c I live in in the midwest and it has been rather cold here lately. She is still getting the same amount of attention; however, when we have our cuddle time she seems to be more interested in picking in the same areas, rather than just enjoying the cuddle time like she used to. We did add a new bird to our house, but that was about 5 months ago. She has not been to the vet since she started plucking, but has been to an avian vet within the last 6 months. I don't think she is sick...besides the plucking all of her other behavior is normal. I am just looking for any suggestions. I will love her even is she is bald, but I don't want her to be stressed and want to do what is best for her. Any advice is appreciated thanks!
