Quite perplexing indeed. It seems that you might want to let
nature takes its course. If the baby survives, it will- I
guess put him back in the nest and let the parents do their
thing.

You need to remember, the parents will know if the chick is
going to survive or not before we do. The mother may have
been the one to push it out if you have not witnessed her
feeding it. This may be a sign that there is something wrong
with it- and by the sounds of it, it could be anything.

The only thing you can really do is pray he makes it.
