Post: canary egg

Hello, my canary that has always been a beautiful singer,
so I assumed he was a male, layed an egg this morning! She
seemed as surprised as me:)
Since she missed the nest, I immediately picked it up and
put it in her nest. Two questions:

She is eating and drinking normally, flying etc...but her
vent is red and kind of raw looking, is this normal? Also,
what should I do with the egg? Leave it for a few days,
throw it out?
