This is so neat ... I've been having this same experience ... I
have finches nesting in a plastic hanging plant on my 3rd floor
balcony (apt. complex). They are fun to watch. I knew they
liked that plant, but I had no idea they were nesting in it ...
my fiance who is over 6 ft tall told me there was a nest one day
and I got on a chair to see it ... NO TOUCHING!! :) I got on a
chair to see it one other day and noticed they had 3 eggs in
there. I think that was Friday when I saw that. She's
incubating now and we try not to disturb her,but that's our
smoking patio .. :( They were hanging out there for a long time
building the nest before they actually laid eggs, so surely they
knew to expect us out there once in a while. Isn't nature just
    incredible!?
