how i was able to get so close was that they are on my front porch right next to my front door. we stopped using the front door so as not to disturbe the nest. when discovered we counted the eggs and have kept a close eye on them due to the cats running loose in the neighbor hood. protective yes nosy no. but we have seen the mom coming and going so they are going to be just fine i believe.
