Post: CONGO AFRICAN GREY MATING RITUAL

I have a pair of bonded CAGs who were meant (by me) to
just be companions. They are both acting like horny
teenagers and are preening each other along with locking
beaks and sometimes pumping their heads while in the beak
embrace. They chase each other around each others cage and
can be fairly vocal. They have been together for about 11
months. The male is mature, probably 5-10 years old while
the female was one year old in September of this year. I
thought that the Female wouldn`t want to mate until 5-6
years old and am wondering what is going on?
I purchased the female just after weaning, so I know she
is 14 months old. the male was purchased about a year ago
from a private party who was probably lying about his age.
I was told that he was 2 1/2 years old but the Avian Vet
said he is probably a lot older? I thought that eye color
was a valid way to tell a CAGs age, but the Vet said no.
The male has light creamy yellow colored eyes.
Is this mating behavior or just leading up to it? THANKS
