First, there is no such thing as a mean bird. There has to be
some reason they're acting a certain way, not to just be mean.
Sadly, female lovebirds become a bit hormonal after a certain
age and can be quite jealous as well. The only way she will be
able to be housed with another lovebird (ONLY a lovebird) is
if it is a male, and even then they might fight, as you
stated. I've read some ways to keep the female's hormones low
to keep her and you happier. Short days and long nights. Let
her sleep about 11 hours. Keep paper and anything that can be
made into a nest out of her cage. It would help if she was
housed away from the male and didn't have mirrors in her cage,
but if you don't want to go that far, you don't have to. Try
googling about female lovebirds, there are some helpful tips!!
