Re: scared senegal?
Posted by LT on 9/06/04

I once owned a sun conure, and I currently have a Senegal
parrot. First of all, sun conures are definitely louder. I
had one in an apartment and the neighbors never complained,
but if noise is an issue, a Senegal would be better. The
conure was friendlier. She especially liked men, and liked
to give kisses and perch on shoulders. My Senegal is only
friendly to me. He will try to bite anyone else. They are
known for being scared easily, but I don't have that problem
with him. He doesn't like long things that look like snakes,
but he doesn't mind noise, like if I vacuum around him, and
he's not scared of our cats and dog. I don't really have a
preference. Both are the same personality-wise. They are
both playful and acrobatic. Both like to go with me places,
like ride in the car and run errands. I think my Senegal is
a little more independent. He stays at home by himself 10
hours a day, but he keeps busy with his toys. My sun conure
was a lot more active and wanted attention constantly.
    I hope this helps.
