Me too sorry to hear about Spanky... They go through a lot of
emotional stuff in doing their very best to fit into our human
world. Some quakers as well as other birds start plucking if
the furniture is moved. To them it is stressful no matter how
good it makes us feel.
Several years ago I read about giving chamomile tea to quakers
for calming to help stop the plucking. You might ask your vet
about this. This recipe was given by a holistic avian vet.
Make a cup of tea as if to drink and add to a quart of water
making it 40 oz. Give as only drinking fluid for a full 3 days
then give back regular water and offer the tea 2 or 3 times a
week for a while then down to 1 or 2 times. This last is in
addition to regular water.
Sometimes the folicles are destroyed and feathers won't grow
back but just maybe the tea will help. I would be interested
to know what your vet says.
good thoughts to you and Spanky,
