    Clean, yellow pine is good. I buy 2X4's, cut them in 2-3
    inch pieces, drill holes in the center and string them up.
    Great chew toys for a Macaw anyway. Sometimes I can find
    them in the "cull" lumber bin cause they are bent or
    something and it's even cheaper. My Macaw goes through them
    so fast and he doesn't give a hoot one way or the other
    whether they have fancy colors or not. The small pieces he
    leaves as he shreds them are perfect chew sticks for my
    Sennie.
